How to generate ideas in 9 ways
Ideas are more powerful than we can ever imagine them to be. They are more powerful than the brains that produce them because they still keep on living even after the brains that produce them dies.
What is an idea?
An idea is a thought or collection of thoughts on the mind that generates with intent or unintentionally in the mind. Ideas are thoughts or impressions on the mind. It’s important to note that divine ideas that can emerge to be greatly profitable can only come from God. God who is the master creator could have created the whole world, inhabit it with billions of souls and provide us with all the basic modern facilities we would ever need the same day from generations to generations, but he didn’t. Why? The reason is a no-brainer. In Gen 1:28, God wants us to be co-creators and inventors with him! Isn’t that lovely? The very concept of creation of the world began with an idea, darkness was upon the earth in Gen 1:2-3, God saw that light would be better, and He created light. Since God created us in His own image, it means He has embedded in us the capacity to produce thoughts and ideas and to bring those ideas into reality.
Now let’s look at 9 major ways to generate ideas.
- From an existing idea
You can make easy or simplify an existing process or product from the general concept of an idea. Before now, chalk blackboards were used in classrooms, that was someone’s idea. Another person sat down with an idea and invented a marker board and an electronic board which appeared to be easier to use and way better than the chalkboard where a teachers don’t have to wash hands after each class to get rid of chalk dust. Also the invention of wireless phone system brought to an end the era where cables had to be used. Don’t get me wrong, am not saying the first inventions were lame, but they serve as major bedrock for the conception of new ideas where men have to think of better ways of improving an existing idea so as to better the life of humanity.
- Identify a problem.
Look for a problem to solve, be very observant to the things lacking in your immediate environment. There’s a proverbial saying that goes “one man’s problem is another man’s opportunity”. Are you living around an area where there’s constant electricity failure? Is your environment being rampaged by small or excessive floods due to poor drainage system? Sit down and think on ways of solving the problem. Locating a problem to solve triggers ideas.
- Be information-driven.
Study to show yourself approved…(2Tim2:15). Buy and read good books that would motivate you. Books are awesome for creating innovative thoughts and for stimulating great ideas.
- Quiet Meditation.
When your mind is always chaotic with household chores, job pressures or everyday thoughts and worries, it will be hard for you to come up with creative ideas. Quiet and tranquil meditation for atleast 2hours a week will help you clear your mind of daily stress then you can focus your mind on solving issues. If you practice it with consistency, your mind will start flowing with new ideas on how to deal with certain issues bothering you.
- Dream the impossible.
Big dreams are pathways to great ideas. Never give up on your dreams no matter how impossible it may seem. Somebody shouldn’t tell you it isn’t possible or it wouldn’t work, those are noisy negative distractions. Here’s the story of two men that travelled to India, an opportunity presented itself to both of them. One saw it as impossibility and returned back while the other took advantage of the opportunity and pursued his dream, he is Tony Hilfiger. Ideas flow into your mind on the basis of your dream(s).
- Meditate on the word of God.
When you study the word of God, it puts God’s creativity on display upon your life. The greatest ideas that man would ever know are the ones coming from the invisible realm. (Sam Adeyemi)
- Love for God. In 1corin2: 9, the Bible says that eye have not seen, ear have not heard neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for them that love Him. So, your love for God is the key that unlocks ideas.
- Be prayerful.
Ask God through prayers to reveal divine ideas to you. In Jer33:3, the bible says that when you call upon God, He will answer you and will show you great and mighty things which you don’t know about. That is divine ideas.
- Give to God.
In Mal3:10, the Bible makes us to understand that when we give to God, He opens the windows of heaven and pours down His blessings. Each time you give to God, He gives you an idea that would yield multiplied harvest.
In conclusion, everyone has the potential to be prosperous. Lying within the range of the faculty of our mind is a great destiny. A poor person is one who doesn’t have ideas because those who doesn’t generate ideas will always have to serve those who do.
