A 28-year-old photographer identified as Keow Wee Loong, from Malaysia, scaled the 1,853 foot bridge just to propose to his ‘dream girl’.
Loong then filmed and took pictures before then placing the image on her Facebook page to ask her to marry him on November 27.
The photographer disclosed that he met his dream girl, 24-year-old Marta Sibielak, from Poland, when he was working in Japan in May this year, taking photos of the Fukushima exclusion zone. However he lost his wallet and without cash, Keow went into a convenience store named Family Mart to consider his next move. It was there that he met his future fiancee.
The photographer told MailOnline:
‘It was strange seeing a western woman working in a Family Mart in Japan. I was lost and wanted to use the wifi in the shop but I ended up talking with her.’
After he came back from photographing Fukushima, he met with her often. Their relationship continued travelling together to places such as Thailand.
Keow knew he wanted to propose to Marta but he wanted to make it extraordinary. He was going to film himself on the highest building in China and then show her the video.
The initial plan was to climb the Goldin Finance 117 building in Tianjin which is the 16th tallest building in the world. He said:
‘because my drone pilot was new, we got caught and so we moved from Tianjin to Beijing, Wuhan, Shanghai, Guizhou, Liupansui to get this done. I climbed the mountain and scaled up to the tip of the crane at 2,427 feet high.
‘It was cold and strong wind caused the crane to wobble. We had limited time to get the footage we needed and the spot I was standing in was easily visible by security below.’
‘the original plan for the proposal was supposed to be done in Kuala Lumpur but at the last minute they closed the hall where the video would be shown and I would come out with the ring. So I needed to change the plan.
‘I asked her to wait for me in a restaurant because I know she has a habit of playing on Facebook while she waits for someone. I uploaded the question on Facebook.’
Keow then went to the restaurant to meet up with her and he found her crying. He says:
‘She was emotional. After dinner I gave her the ring on Kuta beach in Bali.’
The pair lives together and are planning their wedding scheduled for next year.
